Islands at Necessary Fiction

I have a headache. I also have a new story at Necessary Fiction. It's called Islands and it's set on Lough Gill in Sligo. More the Lough Gill of my imagination than the Lough Gill of the world. Then again, my imagination is part of the world, and you probably have no idea where Lough Gill is. Or my imagination.

We used to go looking for mushrooms around Lough Gill. Now somebody else is looking for mushrooms there becuase we don't go there anymore. We live in another country. We have lived in another country for a very long time, it seems. I could start a story right now, but I won't because people are waiting for me.

I could say something like: We were at the edge of the lake with nowhere else to go, and Ray was there with his gun... There were sheep... bicycles...

I have a headache. Check out Islands. Thanks to Ethel Rohan for including me in the Irish issue. I'm grateful. I'm not Irish but I can't shake the place and wouldn't want to.

  2. Wow thanks David. The day's looking a lot more liveable after reading your comment. And it was great that Ethel included me in the Ireland issue there. I lived there for quite a while, but I ain't Irish.
